Editorial

This page describes how DumpsterSidekick produces content and how we handle corrections. We are a young site and our editorial processes are still being built. We would rather tell you that honestly than overstate what we do.

Who we are

DumpsterSidekick is run by a small team based in the United States. We are not a large publication with a newsroom. We do not have a permanent staff of subject-matter experts. We are a few people working to build a useful directory and a body of practical reference content for people renting dumpsters.

How our content is produced

Our articles, guides, and reference pages are drafted with the help of AI tools and reviewed by a human before publishing. We use AI for research assistance, drafting, and structural editing — the same way many small publishers and content teams now operate. A human on our team reviews every published piece for accuracy and tone before it goes live.

We do not pretend to have specialized industry expertise we do not have. When we publish a guide on dumpster pricing or permit rules, we are synthesizing publicly available information, supplemented by data from haulers in our network, into something organized and useful. We are not a primary research source, and we do not claim to be.

What we try to get right

For each piece of content we publish, we try to:

  • Use specific numbers and concrete details rather than vague generalities
  • Distinguish between things that are reliably true (industry-standard dumpster sizes, for example) and things that vary by location or vendor (permit costs, prohibited items, pricing)
  • Tell readers when they should verify something with a local authority or hauler before relying on it
  • Avoid copying content from other websites

What we don’t do (yet)

To be honest about our limitations:

  • We do not have a formal fact-checking team or a structured re-verification schedule for our content. We update articles when we notice errors or when a reader points them out, not on a fixed cycle.
  • We do not employ professional editors. Editing is done in-house by the same team that writes the content.
  • We do not verify the licensing, insurance, or pricing of every individual hauler in our directory. We confirm that listed haulers are real businesses with working contact information, but we are not a licensing or insurance verification service.
  • We do not provide legal, financial, or regulatory advice. Our content is informational. For decisions that affect compliance, liability, or significant cost, consult a qualified professional.

As the site grows, we plan to formalize more of these processes. When we do, we will update this page to reflect what is actually happening — not what sounds good.

Editorial independence

Haulers cannot pay to be mentioned favorably in our content, recommended in our guides, or excluded from our prohibited-items pages. Featured listings and premium hauler profiles are clearly labeled as paid placements (see our About page for our full revenue model). Editorial decisions and paid placement decisions are kept separate.

Corrections

If you find an error on our site — wrong pricing, outdated permit information, a broken link, a factual mistake — please tell us. Email corrections@dumpstersidekick.com with the page URL and the issue. We try to respond to correction requests promptly, and we update content when we are able to verify the error.
